Sonar Tracker: KS2 results 2026 - import, reporting and analysis guide

MIS, Comms Hub, Sonar Tracker

Overview

This guide walks you through how to import, report and analyse KS2 assessments, whether your Sonar account is integrated with Juniper Portal or standalone.

Important dates

Results are available from 7:30 on 16 July 2026 in the NCA Portal.

Where scaled scores are included in the CTF these will be imported into Sonar. Where these are unavailable or raw scores are entered manually, these will be converted to scaled scores once the conversion tables have been programmed into the software (available to us after 9am so programmed shortly after). We will confirm once this is complete on the Sonar Tracker: Status updates page.

Step 1: Download your KS2 results

  1. Download your KS2 results as a CTF file from the NCA Portal.

For help and advice, see the DfE's guidance for accessing and downloading your KS2 results as a CTF.

Step 2: Import and report your KS2 results

Follow the appropriate instructions below depending on whether you use stand-alone or integrated Sonar Tracker. If you are not sure which version you use, see Sonar Tracker: Which version of Sonar Tracker am I using?

Select the tab that matches your version:

  • You use the latest version of Sonar Tracker with Juniper Education's MIS.

    Rename your file

You must change the filename of the CTF that you have downloaded from NCA Portal to import it correctly. To do this:

    1. In the folder where you downloaded the file to, find the file.
    2. Right-click on the filename and select Rename.
    3. Rename the file as LLLSSSS_CTF_LLLSSSS_001, where LLL is your LA number and SSSS is your school number. For example, a school with DfE number 0010115 should name the file 0010115_CTF_0010115_001.
    4. After renaming the file, click elsewhere on the screen to ensure the filename changes.
    5. Switch between apps

Follow these steps to switch between apps using the app switcher, as you follow the instructions below:

      1. Select the quadrant icon next to your user profile:

      2. From Your Juniper Apps, select the product / app that you want to switch to:

See How do I switch between Juniper apps / products? for further guidance.

      Import your results

      Import your CTF

      1. Select MIS from the app switcher.
      2. Follow the instructions in MIS: How do I import a CTF?

Make sure your results have imported

      2. Review the contents in Assessments / Statutory Assessments / KS2 to make sure the results have imported.

      Share results with parents

Complete this activity only after the national data has been updated in Sonar Tracker (see Sonar Tracker: Status updates for confirmation). If you do this before hand, the National data column will be empty.

Create the reports for the cohort in Juniper MIS:

      1. Select MIS from the app switcher.
      2. Follow these steps to create, export and print your reports: MIS: How do I create my statutory reports?

If you want to send them by email or app message using Comms Hub:

      1. Select Comms Hub from the app switcher.
      2. Create an email and / or app template to accompany them in Comms Hub. See Comms Hub: How do I create an email message template?

    2. Review the contents in Assessments / Statutory Assessments / KS2 to make sure the results have imported.

    Share results with parents

If you use a third-party MIS, you must export your Sonar Tracker data to your MIS first. You can then generate statutory reports for parents from within your MIS.

Follow these steps to create a CTF export from Sonar Tracker for import into your MIS:

    1. Select School.
    2. Select Statutory Data Export to MIS from the Exports widget.
    3. Select the export you need in the Actions column.

See Sonar Tracker: How do I export statutory end of key stage data from Sonar Tracker? for more information.

Step 3: Analyse your results

Select the tab that matches your version:

  • Outcomes reports (available to Sonar Tracker subscribers only)

If you subscribe to Sonar Tracker, you can view KS2 data as soon as results are imported.

Select Sonar Tracker from the app switcher, then go to Reports / End of KS2 Outcomes. See End of Key Stage 2 Outcomes Report for more information.

    Statutory Dashboard (available to everyone)

Whether in Sonar or Sonar Lite, the Statutory Dashboard lets you view KS2 data alongside EYFS, Phonics, KS1 and MTC data from that year.

Select Sonar Tracker / Sonar Tracker Lite from the app switcher, then go to Analysis / Statutory Dashboard. See Statutory Dashboard for more information.
