Sonar Tracker: How can I add my Nursery Pupils to Sonar Tracker (Stand alone)?

Sonar Tracker

Overview

This article explains how to manage nursery pupils in Sonar Tracker.

In most cases, pupils import into Sonar Tracker through a Wonde sync from your Management Information System, for example SIMS, Arbor, Bromcom, Pupil Asset, or JMIS.

If you cannot include your nursery pupils in your Management Information System, follow the guidance in this article.

Prerequisites

  • Each pupil must have a unique number. Use their Unique Pupil Number (UPN) if possible. If not, any unique number works.
  • You must be an Account Owner or Account Admin to add pupils.
  • Read the Department for Education guidance on UPNs. It explains that these numbers are allocated when a pupil first enters the state-funded school sector, usually when they join a nursery or primary school.

If you cannot add pupils manually, contact Customer Support. Go to Sonar Tracker: How do I get support?

Add nursery pupils

Follow the steps in Sonar Tracker: How do I add a pupil record? to add your nursery pupils.

During the year, you must make any changes to a pupil's details manually in their profile.

At the end of the academic year

Pupils who leave your setting and do not join your reception cohort must be marked as leavers. Follow the steps in Sonar Tracker: How do I set a pupil as a leaver?

Pupils who join your Reception cohort will need to be allocated a UPN before they are included in the Wonde sync.

It is vital that when you assign UPNs to the pupils in your MIS, you edit each pupil's record in Sonar Tracker, changing the unique number they were previously given to their UPN on the same day. This ensures that when the first Wonde sync runs after these pupils have been recorded in your MIS their details match and duplicates are not created.

Outcome

Nursery pupils will show in Sonar Tracker where assessments can be recorded for them.
