Sonar Tracker: How do I see which subjects have observations recorded for them?

Overview

This article explains how to view subjects with observations recorded for them and the number of observations for each subject for the chosen group of pupils from the Observations Summary pane.

Prerequisites

  • To use Sonar Tracker's Observations functionality, in addition to a Sonar Tracker subscription, you must subscribe to either the Observations Module or the Parent Engagement Bundle (this includes the Observations Module and the Awards & Activities module).

Instructions

  1. Select Observations to open the Observations page:
  2. If prompted, select the Year Group(s) / Class(es) for the pupils you wish to view subject observation information about (you can choose more than one for each as needed), then select Open Observations:

If you set Sonar Tracker to default to a specific pupil group but want to view subject information for a different group, when the Observation page loads, select Filters and select your new group.

  3. Locate the Observations Summary pane. At the top of the pane, the filters indicate the total number of observations that have been tagged with EYFS Subjects and Primary Subjects when recorded.
    1. Select the EYFS Subjects tab to view which EYFS Subjects have observations recorded against them, and how many.
    2. Select the Primary Subjects tab to view which Primary Subjects have observations recorded against them, and how many.

Outcome

From the Observations Summary pane, for your selected year group(s) / class(es), you can view how many observations are tagged with EYFS Subjects and Primary Subjects. In the example below, no objectives have been created where an EYFS Subject has been tagged and three objectives have been created where a Primary Subject has been tagged:

When a tab is selected, the number of observations for each subject are displayed. In this example, Reading has been tagged in 2 observation, and Writing in 1 observation, giving a total of 3 observations where Primary Subjects have been tagged.
