Sonar Tracker: How do I record an observation using a photograph?

Overview

This article explains how to record an observation in Sonar Tracker by taking a photograph or using an existing image saved on your device.

Prerequisites

  • To use Sonar Tracker's Observations functionality, in addition to a Sonar Tracker subscription, you must subscribe to either the Observations Module or the Parent Engagement Bundle (this includes the Observations Module and the Awards & Activities module).

Instructions

  1. Select Observations to open the Observations page:
  2. If prompted, select the year groups and/or classes for the pupils you wish to observe (you can select more than one of each as needed) then select Open Observations:
  3. Select Add Photos to create a new observation.
  4. If you're using a tablet or phone, select Open Camera in the Observation tab to take and save a photograph, or select Upload Files then select a photograph already stored on your device.

If you use a computer, you will be prompted to select a photograph already stored on your device. The selected file will be added to the observation that will then open in the Observation tab.
  5. To add more photographs, select Upload Files to add existing photographs or Open Camera to take more photographs.
  6. Optionally, enter a description of what you've observed, tag any pupils, add a subject, and tag any objectives:
  7. Select Save Draft to come back to finish recording your observation, or select Publish.
  8. Select Publish to publish a finalised version of the observation. When prompted, select the audience from the two choices, then select Publish:
