This article explains how to add a member of staff as a new user to Sonar Tracker.

Prerequisites

  1. You must be an Account Admin or Account Owner.
  2. When you open the School view in Sonar Tracker and look at the Users widget, it must look similar to this (the user numbers will be different):

If the widget doesn't look like the one above, open the article Sonar Tracker: How do I invite a staff member to use Sonar Tracker through Juniper Portal? for instructions.

Instructions

  1. Select School.
  2. From the Users widget, select Add a new user:

  3. Complete the data entry form (all fields with an orange dot are mandatory)
  4. Select Create User when all mandatory fields have been entered correctly:
  5. Select Back to Users when prompted to return to the tabular Users view:

User Type Guidance

We've updated User Role / Permission Labels as part of ongoing improvements to login and account management across Juniper Education products, helping ensure alignment with our evolving security standards.

The table below lists details of User Role / Permission Labels, including their Old Role Equivalents:

User Role / Permission Label Old Role Equivalent Best suited for Permissions
Account Owner Tracker Owner The account owner In Sonar Tracker, this type of user can do the same as an Account Admin user and is also the Sonar Tracker account owner.
Account Admin Admin The tracker manager In Sonar Tracker, this type of user has full assessment permissions and can make school set-up changes, for example, selecting the Objective set.
Full Edit Write Teachers and assessment coordinators

In Sonar Tracker, this type of user can:

  • Enter / edit summative and formative for the current and previous academic years.
  • Enter / edit Statutory data.
Partial Edit* Limited Write Teacher users or teaching assistants

In Sonar Tracker, this type of user can:

  • Enter / edit summative data for the current academic year only. They are unable to enter / edit summative data for previous academic years.
  • Enter / edit formative data.
Minimal Edit*
Full Read-only* Read Only Internal staff who may need access but do not enter data themselves In Sonar Tracker, this type of user can only read data, but they can see pupil names. They are unable to edit data for the current academic year or previous academic years.
Partial Read-only*
Minimal Read-only Anonymised Governors or similar stakeholders In Sonar Tracker, this type of user can only read data, but all pupil names are anonymised along with their dates of birth. They are unable to edit data for the current academic year or previous academic years.

* When you see multiple User Role / Permission Labels for an Old Role Equivalent, choose either of the new User Role / Permission Labels - they have identical permissions in Sonar Tracker. For example, Partial Edit and Minimal Edit both correspond to the old Limited Write permission, while Full Read-only and Partial Read-only match the old Read Only permission. Both User Role / Permission Labels are listed because the permissions differ in other Juniper Education systems.
