People First: How do I configure job advert settings in People First?

People First HR

Overview

This article explains how to set up job categories and advert header and footer templates. Job categories appear on the job board and help candidates filter and search for relevant roles. Header and footer templates add consistent wording to every job advert across all campaigns.

Prerequisites

  • HR Administrator, System Administrator, or Campaign Administrator access is required.

Instructions

Select a toggle below depending on whether you want to add or edit job categories, or if you want to add a header and footer template for job adverts:

  • Follow these steps to add or manage the categories available when creating campaigns and displayed on the job board.

    1. Select the menu icon in the top left-hand corner of the home window.
    2. Select Administration.
    3. Select the Configuration tab.
    4. From the left-hand list, select Recruitment, then select Job categories:

    5. To add a category, enter a name and save. The category appears in the list and becomes available when creating campaigns.
    6. To edit or delete a category, select Edit next to it. You can update the wording, mark it as inactive, or delete it.

There is a limit of 25 job categories. We recommend keeping this to 12–14 where possible to avoid overwhelming candidates on the job board. If a category has published campaigns assigned to it, it cannot be made inactive.

  • Follow these steps to add standard wording that displays at the top and bottom of every job advert.

    1. From the home page, select the menu icon in the top left-hand corner.
    2. Select Administration.
    3. Select the Configuration tab.
    4. From the left-hand list, select Recruitment, then select Advert header and footer:

    5. In the Advert header box, type or paste the wording you want to display at the top of your adverts.
    6. In the Advert footer box, type or paste the wording for the bottom of your adverts.
    7. Scroll to the bottom and select Save.

Header and footer templates are visible on adverts across all campaigns, including those already published. Any changes take effect immediately.

Tips and best practices

Use the header and footer to include information that applies to every role, for example, your equal opportunities statement or a link to your employee value proposition. This eliminates the need to manually add this content to individual adverts.

Next steps

After your categories and templates are in place, they are available immediately when creating a new campaign. Review them periodically to make sure the wording remains accurate and up to date.
