People First HR
Overview
This article explains how to enable the equality, diversity and inclusion (ED&I) questionnaire, blind recruitment, and reasons for leaving in People First Recruitment. These features help your organisation meet legal requirements, promote fair and consistent hiring practices, and gather meaningful data about your applicant pool.
Prerequisites
- Campaign Administrator access is required to enable ED&I and reasons for leaving.
- System Administrator, HR Administrator, or Campaign Administrator access is required to enable blind recruitment.
Instructions
Select an accordian below depending on whether you want to enable the ED&I questionnaire, enable blind recruitment or enable reasons for leaving:
- Enabling ED&I adds an optional questionnaire to the application process, allowing your organisation to monitor and review the diversity of your applicant pool. To enable ED&I:
- Select the Administration app from the menu.
- Select Settings.
Select Equality, diversity and inclusion from the left-hand panel:
Select the option to turn on equality, diversity and inclusion
Blind recruitment anonymises applications when hiring managers and campaign contributors view the pipeline, helping to reduce unconscious bias. Attachments are also unavailable to these users across all stages of the recruitment process.
From the home page, select the menu icon in the top left-hand corner:
Select Administration:
Select the Settings tab:
Select Blind recruitment from the left-hand list:
Select the toggle so that it displays Yes:
Blind recruitment applies to hiring managers and campaign contributors. Campaign administrators retain full visibility of applicant details.
Enabling reasons for leaving adds a free-text field to each entry in an applicant's employment history, asking them to explain why they left that role.
- Navigate to the Recruitment module via the People First menu.
Select the Configuration tab:
Select the Reasons for leaving tile:
Toggle Turn on reasons for leaving to Yes:
Reasons for leaving is a requirement in the UK when recruiting for roles that involve working with children. In this case, applicants must provide a reason for leaving their most recent role and any previous roles where they worked with children.
Tips and best practices
- If you enable blind recruitment, communicate this to your hiring managers so they understand why applicant details are not visible to them. This avoids confusion and reinforces the purpose of the feature.
Next steps
These settings take effect immediately once enabled. For ED&I, review the questionnaire responses periodically to monitor diversity trends across your applicant pool.
