Overview
This article explains how to create an EAP for a new or previously unassessed qualification for Results Day for KS5 cohorts.
Instructions
If a qualification hasn't been set up or assessed in this cohort and only needs to be viewed in reports, a full EAP setup may not be necessary; a quick setup might be all you need.
Follow these steps to do this:
-
Step 1 - Check if there is already an EAP that can be used for this qualification
The main function of EAPs is to tell Sisra Analytics which grade method a qualification needs to use. However, if there is already an EAP that uses the same grade method this qualification uses, then selected this - there is no need to set up a new EAP.
- Select CONFIG.
- Select Grade Methods.
- Select KS5 Methods.
-
Select the Grade Methods to see if a suitable grade method for your new qualification is already available.
If the grade method your qualification needed isn't available, you'll need to create one. See Sisra Analytics: KS5 - Creating Grade Methods (Admin) guide for further help.
If you've created a new grade method, proceed to Step 2 - Create an EAP. If you haven't, and the grade method needed for this qualification is listed, continue below. The grade method we're looking to use for our new qualification, in this example, is called D*DMP 1:
- Select DATA.
- Select KS5 and the cohort this qualification is set up in
- Select KS4 / EAP
- Select EAP / Baselines
- Select EAP
-
Select each of the EAPs listed and see if any of these have the correct grade method identified in Step 4 (above) selected as the Grade Method. In the example below, there is an EAP called BTEC Engineering that uses the correct grade method from Step 4:
After checking your EAPs:
- If none use the correct grade method for this qualification, proceed to Step 2 - Create an EAP.
- If there is an EAP that uses the correct grade method for this qualification, proceed to Step 3 - Selecting this EAP on the Matching page.
-
Step 2 - Create an EAP
Create an EAP using the grade method for this cohort as none exists. Since additional EAP features are not needed, choose any valid options for the Baseline Type and EAP Baseline:
- Select DATA.
- Select KS5 and the cohort this qualification is set up in.
- Select KS4 / EAP.
- Select EAP / Baselines.
- Select EAP.
- Select Create EAP.
- Select Create New EAP.
- Name the EAP appropriately for the new qualification.
-
Select any valid Baseline Type and any EAP Baseline:
- If you've set up EAP Baselines in this cohort in KS4 / EAP > EAP / Baselines > Baseline Management, with the KS5 Grade Method baseline type, select this for the Baseline Type and then any EAP Baseline.
- If you've set up EAP Baselines as Number Range select this for the Baseline Type, and then any EAP Baseline.
As the EAP Baseline selected only impacts the additional EAP features, select any EAP Baselines for the EAP. Additionally, after selecting an EAP Baseline a message is displayed stating which grade method the selected baseline is using. This only impacts the additional features so can be ignored.
- Select the appropriate grade method for this qualification in Assessment Method. In the example below, an EAP for BTEC Equine Management is being set up using the D*DMP 1 grade method:
- Select Create, then proceed to Step 3 - Selecting this EAP on the Matching page.
-
Step 3 - Selecting this EAP on the Matching page
Follow these steps to select your EAP on the Matching page:
- Select GRADES.
- Select Matching.
- Select Edit to edit your qualification.
- Select the appropriate EAP for the new qualification:
- If after Step 1 - Check if there is already an EAP that can be used for this qualification you found that there was an EAP that used the correct grade method, select this EAP for the qualification.
- If there wasn't and you completed Step 2 - Create an EAP, select your newly created EAP for this qualification.
- If the qualification's row turns green, then the selected EAP and its associated grade method is correct for this qualification, select Save and proceed to Step 4 - Publish KS4 / EAP and GRADES. If the qualification's row turns red, the selected grade method is incorrect:
- Select Save.
- Select the magnifying glass icon next to the qualification's row to show the correct grade method that should be in use.
- Restart your setup from Step 1 - Check if there is already an EAP that can be used for this qualification, and see if there is an EAP/grade method set up that uses this identified correct grade method. In the below example, it looks as though the correct grade method was D*DMP 1.5 not D*DMP 1:
-
Step 4 - Publish KS4 / EAP and GRADES
Follow these steps to republish both KS4 / EAP and all Grades datasets where this qualification has grades uploaded:
- Select KS4 / EAP
- Select Publish KS4 / EAP
- Select Publish.
- Select GRADES.
- Select Publish Grades.
- Select Publish on all Grades Datasets with this qualification's grades uploaded in.

Our Sisra Consultants have designed a self-learning module for Sisra administrators and staff with responsibility for managing KS3/4 data within Sisra Analytics, or with the responsibility for managing the assessment processes within their school, who are looking to get the most value out of the EAP functionality. During this module, you will learn about:
- Understanding what an Expected Attainment Pathway (EAP) is.
- The impact of using populated EAPs in the reports.
- The benefits of using target based EAPs.
- How to create bespoke target based EAPs within Analytics.
After this feature is set up in your Sisra Analytics account, a member of the Sisra Consultant Team will log in, review your configuration, and provide recommendations. Follow the link below to find out more:
