MIS
Overview
This article explains how to edit / update a group within Juniper MIS. It explains how to update group details and manage pupils and staff.
Prerequisites
- You must have Partial Edit, Full Edit, Account Admin or Account Owner permissions to edit / update a group.
- You must have created a group (see MIS: How to I add / create a group?) / have access to edit the group.
- You must be a staff member allocated the role of Group owner or Group editor.
Instructions
Follow these steps to make changes to a group:
Locate, and open the group
To view a list of groups, locate a group and open it from within the Juniper MIS:
- Select Groups to open All Groups:
- Optionally, to narrow your search, select Classes, Year Groups or one of the Custom Group options from the side menu if you know the type of group you are searching for.
- Locate the group you want to edit from the list, using search as required:
- Select the group to open it:
Edit / update the group
To edit / update the group:
- From within the group, select the tab for the details that you want to change as required.
- Based on the tab you selected, make your changes:
- For Basic Details:
- Select Edit.
- Make any changes to the Name or Description (other changes are not permitted).
- Select Save.
- For Pupils:
- To add pupils:
- Select Add pupils:
- Locate and check the Class(es) or Year Group(s) then the pupil(s) you want to add to the group. Expand each selection down to a pupil level as needed. Check / uncheck individual pupils. You can filter the list to narrow your search.
- Select Continue with x pupils, where x is the number of pupils in the selected Class(es) or Year Group(s).

Enter a Start Date for the pupils that you want to add to the group.
Select the vertical ellipsis to bulk fill with a specific date.

Select Save to add the pupils.

- To remove one or more pupils:
- Select Remove.
- Check the pupil(s) you want to remove.
- Select or enter a Leave Date.
- Select Remove Pupils.
- When prompted, confirm the removal of pupils from the group.
- To update the date the pupil joined the group:
- Select the edit icon (
) next to the Group Start Date for the specific pupil.

When prompted, select or enter the date that the pupil joined the group:

Select the green check button to save. A notification message confirms your change has been saved.
The Group Start Date selected must be within the current academic year. If a pupil finishes today, and next week you want to reinstate them, you can't select a Group Start Date before the date that the pupil had previously left the group.

- To update the date that the pupil left the group:
- Select the edit icon (
) next to the Group End Date for the specific pupil.

When prompted, select or enter the date that the pupil left the group:

Select the green check button to save. A notification message confirms your change has been saved.
The Group End Date selected must be within the current academic year. You cannot remove an end date to reinstate the pupil to the group. You must add them again (see To add pupils instructions above).

For Staff:
- Select Edit.
- To add a member of staff, select the name of the Staff Member and their Role in Group.
- To add further staff member, select Add then repeat the previous step.
- To remove a staff member from the group, select Delete next to their name.
- After making your changes, select Save.

Outcome
Any changes that you make are saved. A record of all changes made are recorded. Review these in the Audit Log tab:
