MIS: How do I access the Office Register to manage absences centrally?

Overview

This article explains how to access the Office Register, which will enable you to view and edit all pupil attendance data held for pupils within your school from a central location.

Use this view to:

  1. Chase up and record the reasons for pupil absences on an adhoc basis.
  2. Record known future absences for one or more pupils over an extended period.
  3. Manage Attendance Patterns. These automatically fill specific sessions with attendance codes for one or more pupils to record regular known absences ahead of time, for example, when pupils are Dual Registered.

Prerequisites

  • You must be a member of the office staff with the correct permissions to access the Office Register to update pupil absences.

Instructions

Open the Office Register

From within the MIS, follow these steps to open the Office Register:

  1. Select Manage.
  2. Select Attendance.
  3. Select Office Register to open Office Register Attendances:

Outcome

The Office Register loads:

From here, you can:

  1. Update attendance on an adhoc basis for pupils (see MIS: How do I add additional attendance detail using the Office Register?).
  2. Add future known extended periods of absence, or bulk fill absences for one or more pupils (see MIS: How do I make bulk updates to registers?).
  3. Add / edit attendance patterns for one or more pupils (see MIS: How do I add / edit an Attendance Pattern for one or more pupils?).
  4. Select Code Key to view a list of valid attendance codes used when recording attendance / absence (see MIS: What are the different attendance / absence codes?).
