Overview
This article explains how you to use Advanced Filters to view observations for a time period, for example, this week, this month, this term, multiple terms, or other date ranges.
Prerequisites
- To use Sonar Tracker's Observations functionality, in addition to a Sonar Tracker subscription, you must subscribe to either the Observations Module or the Parent Engagement Bundle (this includes the Observations Module and the Awards & Activities module).
Instructions
- Select Observations to open the Observations page:

If prompted, select the Year Group(s) / Class(es) for the pupils you wish to view subject observation information about (you can choose more than one for each as needed), then select Open Observations:
If you set Sonar Tracker to default to a specific pupil group but want to view subject information for a different group, when the Observation page loads, select Filters and select your new group.

Select Advanced Filters:

When prompted, set the appropriate Date Filter using one of the options provided:
- Select Calculated Dates to show observations for a specific period of time based on today's date. Select from:
- This week.
- This month.
- This term.
- Select Term Dates to show observations for a specific term during this academic year. Select from the data entry points you have configured, for example:
- Autumn 1.
- Autumn 2.
- Spring 1.
- Spring 2.
- Summer 1.
- Summer 2.
- Select (or enter) a From and To date, to set a Custom Range, for example, a previous month or a previous week.
- Select Calculated Dates to show observations for a specific period of time based on today's date. Select from:
- Select Apply Filters.
Outcome
The Observations page updates to display only observations made for the selected group of pupils for the time you selected using the Date Filter. The selected range will be indicated in the Filter pane at the top of the page. In this example, the current month has been selected:
