Sonar Tracker: Primary Pupil Progress Meeting Report

Overview

This article provides an overview of the Primary Pupil Progress Meeting report's purpose, guidance on accessing it, the various types of information it contains, and the different controls that help you customise what you see in the report.

Purpose

The Primary Pupil Progress Meeting report lets you as a teacher identify which pupils to focus on when having your half-termly pupil progress meeting with your SLT.

Use the report to see which pupils have progressed within the current academic year and which have not. You can put interventions in place to focus on those who have not progressed or those who are regressing.

The report reflects exactly the assessment judgements entered by your teachers. These are based on how your school's system is configured to meet your needs and may differ from the examples in the screenshot below.

Opening the page

After selecting the Primary Pupil Progress Meeting report from the Reports page menu, you will be prompted to select which pupils you wish to include. Select one or more Year Groups and / or Classes then select Load Report:

When choosing your Year Group, only Year 1 upwards are listed as options to select, as this is a Primary Report.

Elements

Field Name Description
X Pupils Number of pupils who are included in the report.
X Pupils With No Assessment The number of pupils who do not have a complete set of assessment data within the selected Year Group/Class/Group. These pupils are not included in the report.
Filters

At the top of the table, below pupil numbers, details of the filters that have been applied are listed. These comprise the Assessment Point (term to, and from), the Year Group or Class selected, leavers' details and subjects selected:

Assessment Period The Assessment Period column displays the name of the period, for example, Aut1, along with the percentage of pupils who are at or above ARE:
Assessment Band For each Assessment Period, the school's Assessment Bands are displayed. Pupils are displayed in Assessment Bands based on their progress during the half-term. These bands may differ from school to school. In the example, 5 bands are listed: B (Below), JA (Just At), At (At), A (Above) and  Out of Band Below (performing in a band below that expected for their age).
Pupils

Each pupil's first and last name plus attendance and contextual data. The pupil names listed in each assessment band are sorted alphabetically based on the pupil's surname. Rollover each of the contextual information lozenges to view more information:

Where pupils in multiple Year Groups are displayed, their Year Group is indicated:

No arrow next to a pupil's name

No arrow next to a pupil's name indicates that the pupil has made expected progress since the last assessment period i.e their latest assessment is the same as the previous one.

Pupils who have been assessed out of year group at each assessment point will also show as having made expected progress which may be misleading. We advise these pupils are tracked in relation to their own targets.

Green arrow next to a pupil's name A green arrow next to a pupil's name indicates that they have made accelerated progress since the last assessment period i.e their latest assessment is higher than the previous one, eg 'At' now but was 'Just At' or 'Above' now but was 'At' respectively. Roll over the arrow to view the progress made:
Red arrow next to a pupil's name A red arrow next to a pupil's name indicates that they have regressed since the last assessment period i.e their latest assessment is lower than the previous one, eg 'Just At' now but was 'At' or 'At' now but was 'Above' respectively.Roll over the arrow to view the regression:
Outside of band indicator Where a pupil is working outside of the level expected for their age, this is shown next to their name and highlighted in a cream colour:
