The various Categories — for example, No Assessment, Significantly Below, Below, Just At, Securely At, Above and Significantly Above.

For individual Subjects only (not Combined), select the percentage value within a Category to view the Grade Breakdown slideover that shows all pupils performing at the selected level.

This field is only displayed if there are pupils within the selected set who have no assessment data. It indicates the percentage and number of pupils (displayed in brackets) where no assessment data has been recorded. The percentage is calculated as follows:

No Assessment % = (Number of pupils with No Assessment data ÷ Total number of pupils) x 100

This percentage is calculated based on the size of the total set (the total number of pupils selected).

Select the Assessment Period to use when running the EYFS (2020) Age Related Overview report:

• Autumn 1.
• Autumn 2.
• Spring 1.
• Spring 2.
• Summer 1.
• Summer 2.

By default, this is set to the current Assessment Period.

Schools often align their Assessment Periods to terms as shown above, but this is not always the case. The values displayed may differ based on your school's assessment processes.

Check the Subjects you want to use when running the EYFS (2020) Age Related Overview report. The subjects available are:

• Listening, Attention and Understanding.
• Speaking.
• Self-Regulation.
• Managing Self.
• Building Relationships.
• Gross Motor Skills.
• Fine Motor Skills.
• Comprehension.
• Word Reading.
• Writing.
• Number.
• Numeric Patterns.
• Past and Present.
• People Culture and Communities.
• The Natural World.
• Creating with Materials.
• Being Imaginative and Expressive.

By default, Word Reading, Writing and Number are checked, however, you can uncheck these and/or check other subjects.

Check or uncheck the following to control how the report is presented:

• When Summary View is checked, the report is displayed by various pupil characteristic groups. For each group the following is displayed:

  • The total number of pupils in the group.
  • The associated percentage of pupils in that group (out of the total number of pupils).

  The pupil characteristic groups are:

  • All Pupils - The total number of pupils.
  • Boys - Pupils that identify as being a boy.
  • Girls - Pupils that identify as being a girl.
  • Disadvantaged - Pupils eligible for Free School Meals at any point over the last six years, looked after continuously for at least one day in the last year, or who have left care through a formal route such as adoption.
  • Not Disadvantaged - Pupils that are not Disadvantaged.
  • Pupil Premium - Pupils in receipt of Pupil Premium. Pupil Premium is funding to improve education outcomes for disadvantaged pupils in schools in England.
  • Not Pupil Premium - Pupils not in receipt of Pupil Premium.
  • FSM - Pupils eligible for Free School Meals. This is a programme run by the UK Government to provide free school meals to pupils based on a set of criteria.
  • Not FSM - Pupils not eligible for Free School Meals.
  • SEN - Pupils with any Special Education Need (SEN) provision, for example, they need support or have a Statement.
  • Education Health and Care Plan - Pupils categorised as SEN with an Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP) in place.
  • Not SEN - Pupils with no special education needs.
  • EAL - Pupils where English is an Additional Language.
  • Not EAL - Pupils where English is their primary language.
  • Summer Born - Pupils born between 1 April and 31 August.
  • Leaver - Pupils flagged as leaving the school.
  • Not Leaver - Pupils not flagged as leaving the school.

  This view is useful for governors and within Pupil Performance Meetings.

• Check to view the names of the individual pupils whose results make up the totals shown in each cell in the report:

  

  When Names is checked, select a pupil's name within the report to view their Single Pupil Overview report.

  By default, Names is not checked.

• By default, the result shown in each cell relates to that grade or score only. Check Cumulative to see the results of grades from Just At onwards added to the current value. For example, if you want to view which pupils are Securely At or higher, this comprises the total pupils in Securely At, Above and Significantly Above. From Just At onwards, the value in each cell includes all the ones above. This is illustrated in the example below for the subject Word Reading:

  

• Check to show the combined measure for all displayed subjects in a new tabular view. The combined values are used to determine how pupils are performing compared to their ARE. For each measure, the total number of pupils are listed. The combined measures are always cumulative. Select each combined value to see a list of those pupils making up the measure. Select a pupil's name to open their Single Pupil Overview.

  

• Select to view the Consolidation Opportunities tool in Sonar Tracker. This identifies pupils who are meeting their Age Related Expectations (ARE) in all but one subject, enabling you to determine where extra support can be introduced to help those pupils reach their ARE. For each subject, a total of those pupils not meeting their Age Related Expectations in that subject alone are listed:

  

  Select the total number to display the names of those pupils. You can then use this information to determine where to put interventions in place to provide extra support.

  Each column does not show the pupils' current assessment. Instead, it shows where pupils need to reach to consolidate attainment at that measure or higher. For example, a pupil who is Below in Writing but on target in Word Reading and Number presents a consolidation opportunity — support in Writing could help them reach Just At or higher and achieve the expected standard at the end of the Key Stage across all three subjects.

  As the teacher, you know the full potential of each pupil in your class. Sonar Tracker simply saves you time when identifying possible opportunities.

• Select to view the Enable Modelling functionality in Sonar Tracker. It is used in conjunction with the Opportunities tool and allows you to model the potential impact of delivering on one of the displayed Opportunities. When selected, a checkbox appears next to the number of pupils in the Opportunities table. Check the box to model what would happen if those pupils achieved the indicated assessment. The outcomes are highlighted in yellow within the report.

  This tool is particularly useful when working with limited resources and you need to understand where to place support to have the highest impact on your class' results.

  

• Check to show KPIs, tables and charts separately for each class where multiple classes have been selected, rather than using the default consolidated report view. This saves you time compared to running the report several times.
• Check to show the headline Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) associated with the report. By default, this is checked.
• Check to show the main output of the report in a tabular format. By default, this is checked.
• Check to show the main output of the report in a graphical format. By default, this is checked.

By default, the following display options are checked when this report is run: KPIs, Overview Table, and Chart.
