Overview
This article explains the Primary Triangulation of Data Analysis Report, detailing its purpose, how to access it, the information it includes, and its controls.
Purpose
The Primary Triangulation of Data Analysis Report presents key assessment information, including statutory, summative and formative data, for Reading, Writing and Mathematics, for example, End of EYFS results, Key Stage 1 outcomes, Formative and Summative Attainment, and Test Scores.
The report displays individual pupil outcomes in a tabular format for the selected Class(es) or Year Group(s). By viewing all of this data side by side, you gain a clear, holistic picture of each pupil’s progress across multiple tracking models for each subject.
Using the report, for Reading, Writing and Mathematics you can:
- Identify which pupils are / are not making sufficient progress.
- Identify each pupil's current attainment and how it compares to their previous Statutory results.
- Check to ensure that your teacher assessments are accurate.
- Identify which pupils are on track / not on track to meet their termly targets.
- Identify any data discrepancies.
- Identify those pupils who would benefit from intervention, support or challenge, helping you to plan your teaching and interventions with confidence.
- Identify whether or not your interventions have been effective.
- Determine any patterns at a class, group or cohort level.

| Field Name | Description |
| Pupils | Number of pupils who are included in the report (includes those without assessment data). |
| X Pupils With No Assessment | Number of pupils who have no assessment data. |
| Pupil | Full name of pupil, including lozenges for attendance (as appropriate) and contextual data (for example, Pupil Premium and SEN). |
| EYFS GLD | Where all 12 GLD goals are achieved, this is displayed as Yes, highlighted in green; otherwise, it is displayed as No highlighted in red. |
| KS1 Combined | Each pupil's KS1 Combined results. EXS or GDS are highlighted in green. No is highlighted in red. |
| Statutory tabular data |
The Statutory tabular data updates dynamically, based on the Subject (Reading, Writing, or Mathematics) selected. The columns displayed are listed below, by Subject chosen. Only columns where assessment data is available are shown (Where Year 3 and Mathematics are selected, the user will not see Year 4 - 6 information, such as the Y4 MTC). |
| Statutory tabular data - Reading (default value) |
Where Reading is selected using the Subject Selector, the following columns are displayed in the table, in chronological order:
|
| Statutory tabular data - Writing |
Where Writing is selected using the Subject Selector, the following columns are displayed in the table, in chronological order:
|
| Statutory tabular data - Mathematics |
Where Mathematics is selected using the Subject Selector, the following columns are displayed in the table, in chronological order:
|
| Formative tabular data (ARE) |
The formative tabular data (ARE) is shown using a series of seven columns, five of which are colour banded: Percentages for values A to E, and G above are calculated based on the total objectives (comprising all objectives - those assessed and those not assessed) for the selected subject. The percentage for value F is calculated based on the total of all objectives that have been assessed. |
| Grey column (Not Taught / Pupil Absent) |
The grey column indicates the total number of objectives Not Taught / where the pupil was absent, shown as a percentage of the overall objectives for the selected subject. For each pupil, for each subject, this is calculated as:
|
| Red column (Taught) |
The red column indicates the total number of objectives Taught, shown as a percentage of the overall objectives for the selected subject. For each pupil, for each subject, this is calculated as:
|
| Yellow column (Working Towards) |
The yellow column indicates the total number of objectives where the pupil is Working Towards ARE, shown as a percentage of the overall objectives for the selected subject. For each pupil, for each subject, this is calculated as:
|
| Green column (Achieved) |
The green column indicates the total number of objectives where the pupil has Achieved ARE, shown as a percentage of the overall objectives for the selected subject. For each pupil, for each subject, this is calculated as:
|
| Purple column (Greater Depth) |
The purple column indicates the total number of objectives where the pupil has achieved ARE and is working to a Greater Depth, shown as a percentage of the overall objectives for the selected subject. For each pupil, for each subject, this is calculated as:
|
| Total (Achieved or Greater Depth) All Assessed |
The percentage of objectives where the pupil has achieved ARE, or is working to a greater depth, shown as a percentage of objectives assessed for the selected subject. For each pupil, for each subject, this is calculated as:
|
| Total (Achieved or Greater Depth) All Objectives |
The percentage of objectives where the pupil has achieved ARE, or is working to a greater depth, shown as a percentage of the overall objectives for the selected subject (regardless of whether the objective has been taught or not). For each pupil, for each subject, this is calculated as:
|
| Summative Assessment | The Summative Assessment for the selected Assessment Period, highlighted in a green lozenge where the pupil is working At ARE or above, otherwise the value is displayed in a red lozenge. |
| Termly Target |
The pupil's Termly Target for the selected subject that has been entered into Sonar Tracker. Where pupils achieve their target, the lozenge displays in green. If the target is not met, this is displayed in red. The Termly Target column is only displayed if targets for the selected group are stored in Sonar Tracker. Where targets have not been set, the Termly Target column is hidden. |
| Test Scores |
Any Test Scores for the selected subject that have been entered into Sonar Tracker. The Test Scores column is only displayed when Test Scores for the selected group are stored in Sonar Tracker. Where Test Scores have not been set, the column is hidden. |
