Overview
This article explains how to view details of a pupil's attendance and absences in their Pupil record. This comprises a session-by-session record of attendance / absence and associated KPIs.
To view this week's session-by-session (AM / PM) attendance, go to the Overview page on the pupil's record and take a look at the Attendance widget. The widget also shows details of the pupil's last absence.
Instructions
Open the pupil record
- Select Pupils.
- Select All Pupils.
- From All Pupils, locate the pupil from the list (use filters / search as appropriate):
- Select the Pupil's Full Name to open their Pupil details:
Open Attendances

From the pupil's Overview, select Attendance:
The Attendance page opens:
Alternatively, select View More from the Attendance widget on the pupil's Overview page.
Filter the attendance record
After the attendance record has opened, filter the content based on your needs, using the Time Period, or Start Date and End Date filters. This gives you the flexibility to see any time saved in the MIS:
Outcome
The Attendance tab is displayed. Scroll through the tab to see:
- Attendance by selected time, for example, week, month, half-term, term, year, or a range of your choice.
- A summary of Attendance KPIs:
- Their overall Attendance.
- Authorised Absences.
- Unauthorised Absences.
- Possible Attendance sessions (with one day comprising two sessions).
- Details of Approved Educational Activity.
- Lates (both before and after the register closes).
- Attendance periods where no reason has been given for absence.
- Notes about absences.
- Details about how late a pupil was.
- An overview of any relevant attendance codes.
- A chart showing Attendance by Weekday.
- Any Absence Penalty Notice cases for the pupil, including the absence period, codes, status, and notes for each case (see MIS: How do I monitor attendance penalty notices? for further information about recording Absence Penalty Notices).
