When it's report writing time use the relevant formative assessment data entry page (Sonar Tracker: How do I enter EYFS formative assessments? or Sonar Tracker: How do I enter primary formative assessments?) to review what individual pupils have achieved or haven't achieved.
Identify strengths (objectives that the pupil has achieved) and areas for development (those objectives not yet achieved).
Areas for development can then be used to create individual targets for the pupil. See Sonar Tracker: Entering Formative Assessments for further information.
Check that you are happy with the ARE recorded for each pupil as summative assessment. For further information see:
- Sonar Tracker: How do I enter EYFS (2020) summative assessments?
- Sonar Tracker: How do I enter primary summative assessments?
- Sonar Tracker: Entering Summative Assessments Guide
Finally, you can take a look at the Single Pupil Overview Report for a detailed summary of the pupil's year, which includes both formative and summative assessments along with test results.

After the preparation above, the final step of report writing preparation involves creating a series of reports in Sonar Tracker (based on a template configured by your school's Sonar administrator) that you can use to produce your reports in Word. See the following articles for more information:
