Target Tracker help will soon be switched off

Target Tracker migrations to Sonar Tracker are almost complete. Once everyone has migrated, these help guides will be switched off.

These instructions are for creating a CTF from Horizons which can be used to update Target Tracker with Contextual data. This does not update assessment data.

Producing a report to update contextual information in Target Tracker

The Horizons team have produced an export file that includes all of the relevant contextual data for Target Tracker (including PP, EAL and class names, which are not in a ctf) so is our preferred option for adding / removing pupils as well as ensuring all contextual information is up to date.

In Horizons:

You will need to be an ADMIN user.

  • Go to the Admin tab, then Export > External (Manual Download) - that's down the left hand side.
  • Select Target Tracker from the drop down menu.
  • The data will then load onto a table on the page, so it can be checked.
  • Select 'Download as XML' to create the file.

Importing into Target Tracker

  • Click on File > Import > Update contextual

If the import fails, please refer to this guidance to troubleshoot and solve the issue - Target Tracker: Identifying why a file is invalid using Excel and Editing it in Wordpad/Notepad

Once successfully imported you will then see a Summary screen identifying all of the changes that will be made. It is important that you check;

  • all of the children highlighted pink (continuing with children highlighted pink who have not left will replace children's records with blank ones) have left
  • all of the children highlighted in green are new to Target Tracker

……if this is not the case please call the helpline for advice. The rest of the children will usually show as ‘modified’ as attendance data will be updated for all as well as any other changes to SEN codes, PP, FSM etc.

For any new children who have been added, statutory assessment results (ELGs, Phonics, KS1) can now be

  • input manually, or
  • imported using the CTF that came from their previous school (Click File >Import > Update Assessments, browse to the CTF that came from the child's previous school > Import), or
  • imported using a CTF created in Horizons for individual children, or a cohort, such as Year 3 for a Junior School - Updating Pupil Information from Horizons (Including Assessments)
