MIS: How do I cancel an exclusion?

MIS

Overview

This article explains how to cancel an exclusion for a pupil.

If you are cancelling a permanent exclusion, the MIS automatically creates a linked suspension record, to record the sessions the pupil has already lost. You cannot delete this suspension separately from the permanent exclusion.

Open the exclusion

To open an exclusion record for a pupil:

  1. Select Pupils.
  2. Select All Pupils.
  3. Select the pupil's Full Name to open their Pupil details.
  4. Select Conduct, then select Exclusions:

  5. Select Exclusion Reason 1 for the exclusion you want to open.

You can also reach an exclusion from Manage, then Exclusions, which lists exclusions for every pupil in your school.

Cancel the exclusion

Follow these steps to cancel the exclusion:

  1. Select the exclusion's Basic Details tab
  2. Select Cancel Exclusion:

  3. From Cancel Exclusion:

    1. Select the Cancellation Reason from:
      • NE - New evidence came to light.
      • MM - Managed move agreed.
      • AS - Off-site direction to alternative setting.
      • EC - Exceptional circumstances.
    2. Select or enter the Cancellation Date. The Cancellation Date must be on or after the exclusion's start date. If you select an earlier date, the MIS shows an error and does not save the cancellation.
    3. Select Confirm Cancellation. The exclusion will be cancelled immediately.

Outcome

MIS confirms the exclusion has been cancelled, and shows a message confirming this.

In the case of a permanent exclusion, the message reads This exclusion was cancelled. A suspension record was automatically created to record the sessions lost. Select View suspension record to open the linked suspension.

You cannot delete a suspension record created when a permanent exclusion has been cancelled.

Deleting a permanent exclusion also deletes a linked suspension.
