Overview
This article explains how to record an exclusion for a specific pupil from their pupil record.
Instructions
Follow these steps to record an exclusion for a pupil from their pupil record in Juniper MIS:
Open the pupil record
- Select Pupils.
- Select All Pupils.
- From All Pupils, locate the pupil from the list (use filters / search as appropriate):
- Select the Pupil's Full Name to open their Pupil details:
Record the exclusion
- From the pupil record, select the Exclusions tab:
From the Exclusions tab, select Add New:
From Create Exclusion:
Select the name of the member of staff who is recording the suspension from Staff Name.
Exclusions must be approved by the Headteacher - no other staff member can exclude a pupil.
- Select the Category:
- Lunchtime - Select when a pupil is found to be disruptive during lunchtime, and therefore, they are to be suspended from your school for the duration of the lunchtime period. Lunchtime exclusions are counted as a session.
- Permanent - Select when a pupil is to be excluded from the school on a permanent basis.
- Suspension - Select to exclude the pupil from school for a fixed period of time.
- Select a reason for exclusion in Exclusion Reason 1.
- Optionally, add any additional reasons for the exclusion.
- If there is an exclusion meeting scheduled / if a meeting has taken place, select the Exclusion Meeting Date.
- Where a meeting has taken place, enter any relevant notes in Exclusion Meeting Notes.
- Select an Exclusion Start Date.
- For Suspension and Lunchtime:
- Enter an Exclusion End Date.
- Enter / select the duration of the exclusion in Exclusion Number of Sessions.
- Additionally, enter any Appeal Details as required.
- Select Save.
Outcome
The exclusion is recorded and added to the pupil's record. A confirmation message is displayed as you return to the pupil's Exclusions tab:
