Sonar Tracker: How do I analyse my non-statutory test scores?

After you have entered your non-statutory test results into Sonar Tracker (see Sonar Tracker: How do I enter test scores?) the following reports can be used to analyse pupil performance:

Report Report overview

Test Performance Progress Report

Use this report to:

  1. View test results based on Age Related Expectations for a variety of Subjects across multiple Assessment Periods.
  2. Check the names and numbers of pupils on track or above based on their test scores, and assess if there has been improvement, regression, or no change at the cohort level between the % on track or above from one period to another
  3. Identify trends across the group and put in place interventions to support pupils as needed based on their progress. 

Use the View options to display those pupils who are Not on Track (those who score below the threshold set by the school).

Primary Age Related Overview Report

Use this report to view Test Scores achieved for a single test during one assessment period, for example, Reading Test Autumn 2 only and Maths Test Spring 1 only.

The report compares the pupils' Test Scores with their Age Related Expectations for the selected Assessment Period and indicates whether the pupil is working Below, At or Above ARE. For example, if the test range is 1-40 and the expected ARE threshold is 28-32, pupils scoring 28-32 will appear in the At column on the report. Scores of 32+ will go in the Above column, while scores below 28 will be in the Below column. Where there is regression in terms/half-terms or subjects and use this knowledge to plan interventions.

To analyse test scores, select Test scores against ARE instead of Summative against ARE in the Data Analysis drop-down list.

Subject Overview Report

Use this report to:

  1. Compare the selected pupils' Test Scores for the selected Subject with Age Related Expectation results for a single Subject across an Academic Year. Outcomes in yellow indicate On Track (within the ARE threshold), green indicates above, and red below the threshold. Use this knowledge to identify individual pupils / groups who may be consistently scoring below the Age Related Expectations.
  2. Determine how individual pupils are performing over time from Assessment Point to Assessment Point.

To analyse test scores, select Test scores against ARE instead of Summative against ARE in the Data Analysis drop-down list.
