Juniper Websites: Embedding an Album Using the Component Tool

Components are a great way to re-use content you have already added to your site elsewhere.  The Album Component lets you pull through images from any Album or from any Gallery you have created on your website. You can output the images as a Slideshow on the page, a grid of images, or a list showing any description you've added against the image in your album.

Pre-requisite - You will need to ensure you have previously created the Album within a Gallery on your site.

Inserting the Component

  1. Select Block / Components in the Edit tab:
    Insert Content Block
  2. Select Website Content > Photo Album:
  3. The Photo Album Block window opens:
    • To display a title above your block / component, check Include Title, and enter the title text.
    • Select browse to choose your Source album. A tree view of your site will open, listing items with existing albums. Use the tree to choose the album you want to embed in your page, then select Select.
    • Select your Template from:
      • Grid - There are several grid options to allow you to display the album images in a uniform block layout, with different numbers of images on each row:
        examle of grid layout
      • List - This option will output the photo next to its title and any descriptive text you have added to your images within the album:
        example of list layout
      • Slideshow - This outputs a slideshow to showcase your images, similar to the one that appears when selecting the images directly from your album:
        example of slideshow view
    • Enter the number of images to display from your album by entering a number in Limit.
    • Optionally, change the Sort Order. By default, the images will be displayed in the order they appear in your album. You can select to order them by date or alphabetically.
  4. Select OK.

Best practices

  1. Use the table below as a quick guide when selecting images.

    Lower risk Higher risk
    Group activity shots Individual portraits
Distance or wide-angle photos Close-up facial images
Images without uniform or name badges Identifiable uniform or name badges visible
Action shots showing hands or movement Static, posed photos
  2. Use low-resolution images where you can. Low-resolution images are harder to manipulate.
  3. When adding ALT text to images, describe the activity rather than naming individual children, for example, Year 4 science experiment. Ensure that you do not disclose any information, for example, a pupil or staff member's name that makes them easily identifiable.
  4. Review the guidance provided at Protecting your setting’s images from AI manipulation and abuse (UK Safer Internet Centre).
  1. Try not to use images of pupils on their own, or where pupils are clearly identifiable. It is better to use group, activity, or alternative angle photographs where possible.
  2. Ensure there is no meta data attached to your image file (for example, EXIF data) that may reveal location, device details or timestamps.
  3. When using ALT text or labels, ensure that you do not disclose any information, for example, a pupil or staff member's name that makes them easily identifiable.
