Sonar Multi-School
Purpose
Accessed from the Summative Dashboard in Sonar Multi-School, the Diminishing The Difference (Disadvantaged) Widget displays the attainment of Not Disadvantaged and Disadvantaged pupils, along with the gap in performance between the two groups. This gives you insight into the scale of any performance gap and how it has changed over time, so you can see the impact of any interventions and plan future ones to close the gap between those pupils that are and are not Disadvantaged.
Pupil attainment is shown as a percentage of pupils categorised as either Not Disadvantaged or Disadvantaged who are achieving either At or Above ARE in Combined (RWM) (Reading, Writing and Mathematics). A second percentage indicator shows how each category's attainment has changed since the previous Assessment Period. In addition to the individual Not Disadvantaged and Disadvantaged headline figures, a further headline shows the gap between the different categories for the current assessment period and how much it has changed since the previous Assessment Period.
If you want to view the attainment of both categories and the associated gap over a longer period (including the last two academic years), and for individual subjects (Reading, Writing, and Mathematics) as well as combined subjects, you can do this from within the widget's report view.
Calculations are based only on pupils with assessment data. Pupils without assessment data are not included in calculations.
The Diminishing The Difference (Disadvantaged) Widget is only available to users who are part of an establishment that comprises multiple schools in Sonar Tracker, for example, a Multi Academy Trust, and have the appropriate permission associated with their user ID to access Sonar Multi-School content.

In the example:
- For the current Assessment Period, 75.4% of pupils categorised as Not Disadvantaged are either At or Above ARE for their Summative Assessment in Combined (RWM). Meanwhile, 47.7% of pupils categorised as Disadvantaged are either At or Above ARE. The Disadvantaged Gap between the two is 27.7%.
- The difference between the current and previous Assessment Period for Not Disadvantaged shows a 0.1% decrease. Meanwhile, there has been a 0.9% decrease for Disadvantaged pupils. An increase in attainment between assessment periods is shown in green with a green up-arrow. A decrease is shown in red with a red up-arrow.
- This makes the gap 0.8% greater than in the previous Assessment Period. When the gap widens, this is displayed in red with an up-arrow. When the gap closes, this is displayed in green with a green down-arrow. Red indicates the gap is widening; green indicates it is reducing, which shows each pupil has a fairer chance to succeed.

When the gap closes, this is displayed in green with a green down-arrow. Red indicates the gap is widening; green indicates it is reducing.
Where no summative assessment data has been entered for the current Assessment Period, for example, at the start of a new Assessment Period, ~ 0 is displayed, because the change between the previous and current Assessment Periods cannot yet be calculated.
