On 12th July 2021, Ofsted released their subject research review into music.
The document outlines the national context of music, summarises the review of research into factors that affect the quality of music education and considers curriculum pedagogy, progression, assessment and leadership.

In addition, on the same date, Ofsted published a blog entitled, "Simply ‘Doing’ Music Is Not Enough". The blog references the research review paper and summarises the importance of putting high-quality music at the core of the curriculum.
