Comms Hub: How do I approve or decline a news item?

Overview

This article explains how to approve or decline a news item from your Juniper Website that has been sent to Comms Hub for approval before publication using the Juniper Education app.

Although you can view news items sent for app publication for all academic years, you can only edit, approve or decline news items produced in the current academic year.

Prerequisites

  • Your Juniper Website must be accessible through Juniper's Join Up platform (it is available for selection in your App Switcher), and you must subscribe to the Communicate module.
  • Automatic Approvals for News in the Settings / Feeds / Approvals part of Comms Hub must be toggled off (disabled) if you want to manually approve news items in Comms Hub before they are published to the Juniper App. For further information, see Juniper Websites: How do I enable or disable the automatic approval of news and newsletters?
  • You must have one of the following user permissions to approve and decline a news item: Account ownerAccount Admin or Full Edit.

Instructions

Follow these steps to approve or decline a news item in Comms Hub:

  1. Select Approvals.
  2. Select News to open All News.
  3. Select the Title of the news item that is Pending Approval that you want to review:

  4. Review the item, and as appropriate, select:
    1. Edit (see Comms Hub: How do I edit a news item?).
    2. Approve & Publish.
    3. Decline.

Outcome

The news item will be approved or declined for publication, based on your selection:

  1. When you select Approve & Publish, you will be prompted to confirm that you want to publish the news to the Juniper Education App. Select Publish to confirm:

    The approved news item will be published to the Juniper Education app.

  2. When you select Decline, the news item will not be published. 
  3. The Status of the news item is updated in All News from Pending Approval to Approved or Declined as appropriate.  

When a news items is published to the Juniper Education App, parents can interact with it using a selection of predetermined emojis and text responses.
