People First: How do I report / record the end of maternity leave?

This article explains two methods for processing the end of maternity leave requests, depending on whether you use HRIS for Payroll.

Expand the appropriate accordion below for further guidance:

  • To report the end of maternity leave so that it's updated on your payroll in People First,  Submit a request to Juniper Education (raise a Zendesk ticket), providing the appropriate information, based on circumstance:

    Employee is returning to work

Include the following information when you submit the request:

    1. The employee's name.
    2. Date of return to work.
    3. Any contractual changes required.

Employee is not returning to work

Where the employee is no longer returning to work, or not returning for the full 13-week period at their previous contractual obligation, include the following information when you submit the request:

    1. The employee's name.
    2. Changes to contract.
    3. End date of employment.
    4. Whether an overpayment calculation is required where you require the employee to repay any 50% occupational maternity pay already paid.

Juniper Education can provide one overpayment calculation. Where you require additional calculations for assessment purposes, request this in writing, and any additional charges must be agreed in advance.

Where an overpayment is to be recovered, this may require a previous year correction if the absence has spanned a previous tax year period.

  • Record paternity leave by following the steps outlined in the relevant article below, based on whether you know the end date of the absence:
