Teacher App: How do I award badges using the Teacher App?

Overview

This article explains how to award badges to pupils within a class from the Class page in the Teacher App

Prerequisites

  • You must have a Juniper Education account. This is your school email address and password. If you are unable to log in using the app, speak to your school's Juniper Administrator.
  • You must be logged into the Juniper Education App (Teacher App) using your school email address and password.

Instructions

To award badges to one or more pupils:

  1. Open a class (for further information, see Teacher App: How do I see a list of my classes using the Teacher App? or Teacher App: How do I see a list of all classes using the Teacher App?):
  2. Select one or more pupils to award a badge to (or select Select All to award a badge to all pupils in the class). The selected pupils' names are ticked.
  3. Select Award Badge.
  4. From Award Badge:
    1. Optionally, enter a Summary explaining why you are awarding the badge.
    2. Optionally, select a Subject for which the badge is being awarded.
    3. Optionally, select Choose File to add a photograph or video. Add up to 10 photographs or videos using your camera or by selecting them in the usual way you would using your mobile device. Supported image files are PNG, JPG and GIF (up to 10MB per image). Supported video files are MP4 and MOV.

      Videos may take a minute or two to become available to parents after they are uploaded (as they are compressed by the system when uploaded). 

      Where multiple videos and images are uploaded, the order that they are displayed is determined by the order they are uploaded. The first uploaded is displayed first, and used as a preview / Juniper Education App thumbnail.

    4. Select a badge from the list.
    5. Select Save.

Outcome

Depending on how your system is configured, the badge is saved will be either:

  1. Automatically awarded to the pupil and published to the Parent App.
  2. Sent for review and approval by an Account ownerAccount Admin or a user with Full Edit permissions before it is awarded to the pupil and published to the Parent App. When this happens, the following message is displayed:
