MIS: How do I add a pupil?

Overview

This article explains how to edit a pupil's details stored in a record within your MIS. You add a pupil from Create Pupil, which is accessible by selecting Create in All Pupils.

Prerequisites

  • You must have the appropriate permissions assigned to your Juniper account to create pupil records.

Instructions

Follow these steps to add a pupil through Juniper MIS:

  1. Select Pupils.
  2. Select All Pupils:
  3. Select Add New:
  4. From Create Pupil, enter the pupil's details. As a minimum, complete all mandatory fields (indicated with an asterisk):
    1. Status (select from Admission or Current).
      1. Use Admission when adding a pupil to the system as a new admission, but they have not yet been approved and added to your school roll.
      2. Use Current for pupils who are approved and on roll.
    2. Unique Pupil Number (UPN).
    3. Forename.
    4. Surname.
    5. Sex.
    6. Start Date (this is used to automatically calculated a pupil's Academic Year. It uses the previous year if Start Date falls before September otherwise, it uses the current Start Year.)
    7. Ethnicity.
  5. Select Save.

Outcome

The pupil record is created and a confirmation message displays:

All Pupils loads, from which you can locate the newly created pupil record.

A pupil's Academic Year is now calculated automatically from Start Date, using the previous year if Start Date falls before September otherwise, it uses the current Start Year.
