Overview
This article explains how you add a news article to a news category (a page where your news can be found). News articles are a great way to keep your community updated. You can use news articles to share good news, competition results, and other important updates or notifications.
It's a good idea to schedule the archiving of news items when you create them. This will save you lots of time in the future, as you will not need to manually archive items one-by-one.
Prerequisites
To create a news article, a news category must be set up. See Juniper Websites: How do I create a news page?
Instructions
- Navigate to the News Category where you want to add a post, for example, News or similar.
- Select Article from the Create tab:
A New News Story page will open: - Overtype the New News Story title with an appropriate title for your article.
- Select Upload Thumbnail if you want to upload a thumbnail image and select an appropriate image (See Juniper Websites: Cropping Thumbnail Images and setting Alternative Text if you need more help).
- Overtype Please enter an introduction for your news story here with your introduction text.
- Enter your news article content by overtyping Please enter some content for your news story here.
- Optionally add an attachment to the news article by selecting Upload Attachment and selecting one or more files.
- Optionally, if you want to automatically archive the article at a later date, for example, archiving old news items at the end of an academic year:
- Select Archiving from the Edit tab.
- In Archive this new story on, select the calendar icon or type a date in DD/MM/YYYY format to schedule when the article should be achieved, for example, the last day of the Summer term. You can also set a time if required.
- Optionally, if you want to publish at a later date, for example, if you are issuing a time sensitive article:
- Select Archiving from the Edit tab.
- In Publish this new story on, select the calendar icon or type a date in DD/MM/YYYY format to schedule the publication. You can also set a time if required.
- Save your news article using the appropriate option (see Juniper Websites: Saving an Item of Content on Juniper Websites if you need more help).
Outcome
The news article will be saved and available to view. A thumbnail will be added to the News Category (news page) that can be selected, for example, this festive celebrations news item:
