Overview
This article explains how to create one or more EAPs in KS3/4 after uploading baseline data for a cohort.
EAPs define the grade method(s) used in a qualification during each year / term, meaning qualifications using different grading methods will require separate EAPs. For example, if students are taking qualifications awarded 99-11 (i.e. Combined Science), 9-1 or DMP grades, you will require at least 3 separate EAPs.
If you want to copy previously created EAPs from another cohort, see FAQ: How do I copy an EAP? (Admin).
Prerequisites
You must be an administrator.
Instructions
Follow these steps to create an EAP:
- Select DATA.
- Select KS3/4.
- Select the Cohort.
- Select KS2 / EAP.
- Select EAP.
- Select Create EAP:
- From Create New EAP:
- Check Create New EAP.
- Enter the EAP Name. This should be clear and concise to make it easy to identify when completing the EAP column on the Matching page.
- Optionally an EAP Description.
-
Select the Baseline Type from those uploaded. This determines how students are grouped onto their flight paths if expected grades are entered. For example, if you upload set up Targets as baselines, select KS3/4 Method. (If you are not going to enter expected grades, select any available Baseline Type).
This cannot be changed when the EAP has been created.
If Number Range has been selected as a Baseline Type, enter a Lower Limit and Upper Limit for the range of the EAP pathway. These numbers can be between 0 and 300, for example, to create EAP pathways for 0 to 140, select 0 as the Lower Limit, and 140 as the Upper Limit.
- Select the KS2/Baseline. The options available for selection comprise baseline qualifications uploaded in KS2 / EAP > Uploads for the selected baseline type. The KS2/Baseline determines those grades that will be used to define the starting point to group students onto their pathways, if expected grades are entered.
-
Complete the Assessment Method table, selecting a Grade Method for each Year / Term (from Year 7 to Final KS4 Exams). The Grade Method selected must correspond to the type of grades planned to be uploaded for qualifications using that EAP.
You must select a grade method for each year, even if you’re not planning to upload grades for that year in this cohort.
If you plan to use a different Grade Method part-way through the year, check By Term and select the appropriate Grade Method for each term, as shown in the example below, where grades collected in Y7, Y8 & Y9 Terms 1 & 2 will be based on a Mastery method, and in Y9 Term 3 onwards will be collected using the GCSE 9-1 method:
Only Grade Methods created with Attainment 8 points can be selected in Final Exam Grades.
- Select Create.
Outcome
The EAP is created.
If you do not want to utilise flight path functionality, and on track analysis in the reports by entering expected grades (as this is optional), create additional EAPs for your remaining qualifications before uploading your grades.
If you want to enter expected grades to take full advantage of the reports’ analysis, see KS3/4: Editing and Defining EAP Pathways (Admin).
