Sisra Analytics: Why is L3 Value Added (VA) not showing in the KS5 reports? (Admin)

Overview

This article explains how to fix any problems that stop the Level 3 Value Added (VA) figures from displaying in the KS5 Headlines report or the dedicated Value Added report area.

Prerequisites

You must be an administrator.

Solutions

Work through each of the items below to ensure KS5 Value Added is displayed in your reports:

  • To calculate Level 3 Value Added, the KS4 APS GCSE and KS4 APS All from when the students were in KS4 must be imported. To check that the baselines have been imported, and where they haven't, to import them:
    1. Select DATA.
    2. Select KS5.
    3. Select the Cohort.
    4. Select KS4/EAP.
    5. Select Core Baselines. The Core Baselines List shows the Baselines currently imported for each student:

Where baselines are yet to be imported for the cohort, Import Core Baselines opens:

From this window, import the following KS4 Baselines for your students:

        1. KS4 APS GCSE - The average points score of all GCSE qualifications taken at KS4. These are used as the baselines for A Level and Other Academic qualification types (such as EPQs).

        2. KS4 APS All - The average points score of all qualifications taken at KS4, including any BTECs. These are used as the baselines for Applied General and Tech Level qualifications.

For help importing baselines, see the Sisra Analytics: KS5 - Preparing and Importing Core Baselines (Admin) article.

For leavers' cohorts, obtain these figures from the DfE Checking Exercise. For current cohorts, obtain these baselines from Get Information About Pupils (GIAP). If they are unavailable in GIAP, calculate them manually. See Sisra Analytics: KS5 - Where to find Core Baselines (Admin) for further help.

  • Where KS4 Core Baselines are correctly imported, confirm that the relevant Value Added Data is selected:

    1. Select DATA.
    2. Select KS5.
    3. Select the Cohort.
    4. Select Grades.
    5. Select National Data
    6. Check the Value Added Data section. If No Value Added national data has been selected is displayed:
      1. Select Edit VA Data:
      2. Select the relevant data for your cohort when prompted, for example, 2024 Revised:
      3. Select Save.

Sisra Analytics populates Approved Value Added Qualifications with the relevant VA Ready Reckoner data (where available), based on the QN codes entered on the Matching page:

See Sisra Analytics: KS5 - National Data Value Added Setup (Admin) for more information.

  • Where KS4 Core Baselines are correctly imported, and national data has been selected, republish the reports, ensuring Headlines are enabled:

    1. Select DATA.
    2. Select KS5.
    3. Select the Cohort.
    4. Select Grades.
    5. Select Publish Grades.
    6. Select Publish next to the desired dataset or assessment collection.
    7. From the pop up window toggle Produce DfE-based Headlines figures on:
    8. Select Publish.

Outcome

In the reports, L3VA are pulled through to the Headlines report, and you have access to the dedicated Value Added reports. For more information about publishing, see Sisra Analytics: What does publishing mean?
