Overview
This article is for People First HR users only.
This article explains how to record an employee's completion of their probation period. The system does not differentiate between failure and passing probation.
Instructions
Follow these steps to record an employee as completing their probation period:
- Locate and open the employee's profile for the employee who you want to flag as completing their probation period. To find their profile, use the Search feature or the Org chart.
- The employee's Profile opens on the Personal Employment tab. If the employee is assigned to more than one Job on joining, select View Job to open the details for their primary Job where their probation period was added.
-
Scroll down to the Terms & Conditions card:
- Select the Probationary period text.
-
From the Probationary period details:
- Enter or select a date.
- Select Add New.
-
When prompted:
- Check Completed.
-
Optionally:
- Select a note detailing the reason for failure.
- Select Attachment and upload any related documents.
If you do either of these, if you want to make these visible to the employee, ensure Visible to employee is checked. To hide these from the employee, ensure Visible to employee is unchecked.
- Select Save.
Outcome
The probation period is marked as completed. A notification is displayed confirming this:
Select < to return.
The employees Terms and Conditions are updated to reflect completion of probation:
When an employee fails their probation, as applicable, follow the Leaver process, recording the reason for leaving as Failed Probation (see People First: How do I flag an employee as a leaver (single-role)? or People First: How do I flag an employee as a leaver (multiple roles)? for further information).
