Sisra Analytics: KS3/4 - How do I view the number of students who achieved X+ grades 9-X?

Overview

This article explains how to view the number of students who achieved a certain number of grades 9-X, for internal analysis, for example, the number or percentage of students who achieved 5+ grades 9-7. This is done through the Grades area of KS3/4 reports.

Instructions

Follow these steps to view grade ranges for internal analysis:

  1. From your KS3/4 report:
    1. Select Grades.
    2. Select Overview.
    3. Select Students.
  2. Select Options:
  3. From the Options tab, select All A8 Quals as the Grade Type:
  4. If you have Guest students and do not want them to be included:
    1. Select the Filters tab.
    2. Select Add Filters.
    3. Select On Roll for Student Status.
    4. Select Apply.
  5. Set your report options to Count and Cumulative:
  6. In the Sort dropdown, select to sort by the grade column containing the lower limit of your grade range.
For example, if you're looking for the number of students who achieved 5+ grades 9-7, then you would select to sort by the 7 column.

  7. Scroll down and identify the first student who achieved less than your desired number of grades. The number of students above this student is the number of students who achieved your desired number of grades 9-X.

For example, if you're looking for the number of students who achieved 5+ grades 9-7, then you would scroll down to find the first student to achieve 4 grades 9-7, then the number of students above this student would be the number of students who achieved 5+ 9-7 grades. In the below example, the student listed row 25 is the first student to achieve less than 5 grades 9-7, so the number of students above 4 grades 9-7 is 24.

Outcomes

This gives the number of students who achieved your chosen number of 9-X grades. To find this as a percentage you would need to divide this number by the total number of students shown on this report, and then multiplied by 100. You can find the number of students shown on this report by scrolling to the bottom, and then looking at the bottom row number in the far left corner.

In this example, 24 pupils achieved 5 grades 9-7 or above. There are 210 pupils in total. The percentage of pupils achieving 5 grades 9-7 or above is:

( 24 / 210 ) x 100 =

11.4285 x 100 =

11.43% (to 2 decimal places).
