Juniper Websites: How do I hide a content item from Sitemap View?

Overview

This article explains how to hide a content item by moving it to the hidden Hidden Area in your website from the Sitemap View.  Hidden items do not appear in the visible navigation on your site.

Avoid storing private or personal information in the Hidden Area or anywhere on your website. There is a possible risk of external access to the page through search engines. If you've shared a link to the page in the past, Google may have the link stored on their servers. Consequently, if someone searches for the page, Google may inadvertently give them direct access using the old link.

If you are in doubt, consider either archiving an item or creating a password-protected secure page.

Prerequisites

  1. You must be an Administrator to hide an item of content in the Hidden Area.

Instructions

If you are creating a new page, or know that you have never created a link to the page, follow these instructions to hide it in the Hidden Area:

  1. From the Sitemap View expand Home to find the Hidden Area:
  2. Navigate to the page you'd like to hide.
  3. Select and hold the page. Drag and drop the selected page into the Hidden Area.

Outcome

The page is now hidden. It can only be accessed through the Sitemap View

You can use the Sitemap View to move the page back to its original location when you're ready for the page to be viewable again.
