Juniper Websites: How do I password protect a page?

Overview

This article explains how you can restrict access to a page using a password, based on a user's role. By default, Administrators, Publishers and Writers can access all parts of a website. This article explains how to change a page's default settings and configure page access by user groups.

If you want to restrict access by other user roles, you must first set up the role and assign it to users. See Juniper Websites: Creating a New Role and Juniper Websites: Creating a New User.

Do not create a page where administrators are restricted from accessing it - this can cause problems. Always ensure that administrators can access all pages.

Instructions

  1. Navigate to a page where you would like to restrict access.
  2. Select Security from the Edit tab.
  3. When prompted set Inherit Settings to NO:

  4. When prompted set Public Access to NO:
  5. Select which User Roles you want to give access to when they are logged in:
  6. Save your changes.

Outcome

The page will now be restricted to the selected user roles. Users assigned roles for access will need to log in to view or edit its content. Users not logged in will be prompted to log in when accessing this page.
