Sonar Tracker: How do I track progress for COVID-19 year groups?

Current Year 6 pupils missed out on statutory teacher assessments in 2021 because of the disruptions caused by COVID-19. While some schools opted to carry out assessments voluntarily, others decided against it. As a result of the cancellations, no moderation of any teacher assessments was conducted. This means that if a pupil transfers to your school from another, their teacher assessments might not match up with those at your school, assuming they have any assessments at all.

With this in mind, for Year 6 pupils in the 2024-2025 academic year, we suggest using data from Summer 2 of Year 2 in the 2020-2021 academic year as the starting point for monitoring progress with the Primary Assessment Conversion Matrix Report. For pupils in Year 4 or Year 5 use Statutory KS1 data from 2022 and 2023 respectively as a starting point in the same report to track their progress.
