Sonar Tracker: How do I track pupil progress from statutory assessment?

Overview

This article explains how to track pupil progress from statutory assessments using the Primary Assessment Conversion Matrix.

Instructions

  1. Select Reports.
  2. Select the Primary Assessment Conversion Matrix.
  3. When prompted, select the pupils you wish to include in the report by selecting one or more Year Groups and/or Classes:
  4. Select Load Report. This opens the matrix in its default view, displaying teacher summative assessment from one time period to another:
  5. Select a different start point from the From menu, for example, with a Year 4 cohort you may want to look at progress from ELGs (ELGs 2020):

If your statutory data is not displayed you may need to import it from your MIS. For more information, see Sonar Tracker: How do I import Statutory Data from a CTF?

Outcome

The matrix will provide a view to compare a pupil's current status with their statutory assessments.

In the example below for a Year 4 cohort, looking at their progress from ELGs, of the 37 pupils who achieved Expected for their ELGs, for their summative assessment at the end of Year 4, 1 is working significantly below their ARE, 1 is working towards (Just at), 34 are working at the expected level and 1 pupil is significantly above ARE:

The matrix is a helpful addition to a collection of evidence that shows performance that is either better or not quite as good as anticipated.
