Juniper Websites: Embedding Sub-Menu Navigation Links

Components are a great way to re-use content you have already added to your site elsewhere.  The Submenu Component will output navigation links into your content area.

Inserting the Component

  1. Select Components in the Edit tab:
    Insert Content Block
  2. Select Website Content > Submenu.
  3. The Add Component window opens:
    • By default, the current page is set as the item to output the menu items for. To change this, select Browse to open a tree view of your site. Select the item that you want to embed the menu links for, then select Select.
    • Select the Levels of menu item to display. By default this is set to 1. Set as 2 or more to display sub-pages nested beneath the selected page.
  4. Select OK.

The template options are only relevant if you have bespoke/custom styling set up for your components.

Example of submenus

If you have a Curriculum page with individual subject pages beneath it as shown below:

  • Setting the Level to 1 will display only the Curriculum page link.
  • Setting the Level to 2 will include links for both the Curriculum and the Subject pages.

Saving Your Changes

Select Save on the Edit tab and choose the desired save option:

  1. Save & Publish
    • If you see this option, you can save and publish your item immediately to make it live on the website.
    • If you have purchased our School News Mobile App, Administrators or Publishers can select the option to send a notification to subscribed app users.
  2. Save Draft
    • This will allow you to save your item without publishing it, and return to continue editing via Drafts on the Home tab
  3. Send for Approval
    • This option enables you to send an item to be reviewed and approved by either an Administrator or Publisher.  Once approved this item will be made live on the site.
