Sisra Analytics: I have run out of datasets to upload grades into, what should I do? (Admin)

Overview

This article discusses your options if you run out of datasets to upload your grades to. It explains:

  1. How standalone datasets function, holding one set of grades for producing one report.
  2. What to consider when uploading multiple sets of grades to a single dataset.
  3. Using Assessment Collections as a more flexible alternative for regularly updated grades.

Datasets and the Assessment area are referred to by their default names within this article. They may be called something different if you renamed them in CONFIG.

Standalone datasets

Standalone datasets, for example, TargetsMocksData Set 3, 4 and 5, and TAGs/CAGs are designed to hold one set of grades each, each producing one report:

If there are two or more sets of grades uploaded to the same dataset, for example, Autumn Mocks and Spring Mocks both uploaded to the same Mocks dataset, Sisra Analytics applies first entry discounting between the two sets of grades - only those with the earliest date will appear in the Mocks report.

In this scenario, to ensure only the latest grades are used, you must delete the previous file uploaded. If you want to retain the original set of grades, you must upload them to another (spare) dataset if available. It is not possible to create any further datasets.

The Exams dataset must only be used for the cohort's final, banked exam grades, and not for any other type of grade, for example, internal examinations.

Assessment Collections

Assessment collections are available (in addition to standalone datasets) to upload grades into. They are located in the Assessments area:

The Assessments area requires you to create separate Assessment Collections for each set of grades to upload, unlike standalone datasets. This is ideal for grades collected at regular points throughout the year, for example, current working at grades or predicted grades. In our example above, we have Assessment Collections for Attainment grades at each term.

With Sisra Analytics, you can publish two Assessment Collections per term, up to six each year for a cohort (30 in total for KS3/4 and 12 for KS5). Use Assessment Collections to upload regularly collected grades into Assessment Collections instead of using standalone datasets.

Like standalone datasets, each individual Assessment Collection is designed to hold one full set of grades.

Using Sisra Analytics, you can publish two Assessment Collections for each term, up to six per year of the cohort (30 overall for KS3/4 and 12 overall for KS5). It is therefore recommended that such regularly collected grades are uploaded into Assessment Collections rather than the standalone datasets.

If you run out of standalone datasets and can’t replace any previously uploaded files, upload the new grades as a new Assessment Collection instead. For example, if you’ve only created one for the term, create a second one (as you can publish two per term). This way, each can be published as a separate report and compared side-by-side.

In the example above, a second Assessment Collection related to Year 8 Term 3 has been created to upload an additional set of predictions. After the grade file is uploaded, it can then be published in one of the two publishing slots for that particular term:
