Sisra Analytics: Why is Progress 8 or SPI not calculating for 24/25 and 25/26 cohorts?

The 2024/25 and 2025/26 cohorts did not sit official KS2 tests as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. As a result, they do not have any official Scaled Scores, which would normally be used as the baselines to calculate these measures.

While all attainment-based headline figures, for example, EBacc, Attainment 8 and Basics should all still be available as normal, Progress 8 and the Sisra-exclusive SPI measure cannot be calculated and will be blank in reports due to there being no KS2 baselines for these students.

The DfE have confirmed Progress 8 will not be reported on officially for 2024/2025 and 2025/2026 Leavers, as outlined on page 20 of the Secondary Accountability Measures guidance.

Some schools have retrospectively assigned Scaled Scores to students, for example, from CAT tests and published reports for Progress 8 and SPI internal analysis. If you are a Sisra Administrator looking to obtain converted KS2 Scaled Scores for the 2024/2025 and 2025/2026 cohorts, we have a webinar which goes through a simple conversion method linked here.
