MIS: How do I quickly find pupils, contacts, staff or group information?

MIS

Overview

Super Search is a global search tool used in MIS. Use it to quickly find pupils, contacts, staff or groups from any page.

Follow these steps to open Super Search from any page in your MIS:

  1. Select the magnifying glass icon in the toolbar, next to your profile icon:

You can also open Super Search from anywhere in MIS using the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + K.

Super Search opens:

Search for a result

Enter your search term. Results appear as you type, and are grouped by:

  • Pupils
  • Contacts
  • Staff
  • Groups

Super Search matches your search term against any of the following fields:

  • Name
  • Date of birth
  • UPN
  • Address or postcode
  • Phone number
  • Email address

Super Search can interpret typos and can match partial terms, so you do not need to enter a full name or the exact spelling to find a result. Additionally, if you enter a group, for example, Super Search will provide pupils, contacts and staff associated with the group.

The following is an example of a search result:

Use the tabs above your results to filter by Pupils, Contacts, Staff or Groups, or select All to see every match.

Check Show leavers to include leavers in your results.

View and act on a result

Select a pupils name, staff name, contact name or group to jump straight to the associated record in the MIS. Alternatively, select the search result to expand it and view further details. The details shown, and the actions available, depend on the type of result:

  • Pupils - shows date of birth, today's meal choice, attendance for the morning and afternoon, and how many groups the pupil belongs to. Select Log Behaviour to record behaviour, or View Full Profile to open the pupil's full record:

  • Staff - shows their role, today's meal choice, how many groups they belong to, and their contact details. Select View Full Profile to open their full record:

  • Contacts - shows their contact details, such as phone number and email address. Select View Full Profile to open their full record:

  • Groups - expand a group result to view a summary in the same way. Select View Group to open the group record:

Additional actions, such as updating attendance and meal choices directly from Super Search, will be added in future releases.
