Overview
This article explains how to sync only parent contacts into the Juniper Education JoinUp ecosystem using Wonde. Contacts are used throughout JoinUp, for example, in Sonar Tracker to send out observations through the Juniper Education App, or in Comms Hub to send out messages by SMS, email or the Juniper Education App.
Many school MIS' store information about other contacts, not just those flagged as parents. From a GDPR perspective, you may prefer to only share parental contact data with Juniper Education.
If your current setup synchronises all contacts (not just parents), follow the instructions in this article to ensure that only parent contacts are shared with Juniper Education going forward, and that any previously synchronised non-parent contact information is removed from Juniper Education's systems.
When new systems are configured, by default, only parent contacts are synchronised.
Prerequisites
- Wonde Sync is used to transfer contact information from your MIS (supplied by a third-party) into Juniper Education's JoinUp ecosystem (for example, when using Sonar Tracker). The content imported from Wonde serves as the single-source-of-truth for your school's contact information. If this is not the case for your set up, this option will not appear in Portal.
Instructions
Follow these steps from within Portal to ensure only parent contact information is transferred from your MIS into Juniper Education's JoinUp ecosystem:
- Select My School.
- Select Settings.
- Select Pupil Contacts.
From the pupil contacts page, ensure that Sync all contacts is not toggled on (is coloured grey):
Where Sync all contacts is toggled on, all contacts, not just parent contacts are synced.
Outcome
- Where you toggle this option off (having previously been on), you are prompted to confirm your choice. Any contacts without parental responsibility will be deleted from the Juniper Education JoinUp ecosystem. Where these contacts have access, for example, to the Juniper Education, it will be revoked immediately.
Where you toggle this option on (having previously been off), you are prompted to confirm your choice. Any additional contacts will be imported into the Juniper Education JoinUp ecosystem with 24 hours (Wonde is configured to run automatically overnight).
