Juniper Websites: How can I make links accessible in my website?

The following article gives tips on how to make links (including button and image links) more accessible on your website:

  1. Make sure that the link describes its purpose. This will let a screen reader user understand what the link does.
  2. Phrases, for example, "click here" or "read more" are not sufficient to describe the purpose.
  3. A URL alone is not a good example of link text, as this will be read out in full by the screen reader and it is not purposeful.
  4. When using images as links, you should set the Alternative Text of the image so that this can be picked up by the screen reader as the link text.
