Juniper Websites: How do I create a hyperlink to a file in Google Drive?

Overview

This article explains how to create a hyperlink to a file including documents stored in Google Drive.

Prerequisites

This option will only be available if your school website administrator has set up the Google Drive Integration within your website.  

Instructions

  1. Navigate to the area of the website where you would like to create the hyperlink.
  2. Highlight the text to use for the hyperlink.
  3. Select the Edit tab.
  4. Select the Link icon to open the Link Info window:
  5. Select the Link Type as URL:

  6. Select Browse Server:

  7. Select Google Drive.
  8. Navigate through the Google Drive folder to locate the file to link to. The Google Drive folder shows any shared drives that have been linked to the site.  
  9. Select the document. The File Manager window will close and return you to the Link window. 
  10. Select OK to close the Link window.

A note on restricted files

When selecting your document, some may be marked with a padlock icon. They are restricted files that are not set to be shared publicly. 

If you select a restricted file you are warned that the permissions must be changed to make the file publicly accessible:

    • As appropriate, select Go to file to view the file and update its permissions (if you have access to the Shared Google Drive.
    • If the file is not public, it can still be embedded, but visitors must be logged in to access the files. Select Insert link to do this.

Outcome

The hyperlink has now been created on your page.
