This article explains how to resolve the File to be imported contained commas. Please upload a file with no commas problem when importing your data.

The error occurs when commas are included in the import file (usually between students' first name and surname), and the file is saved as a Comma-Separated Values (CSV) file.

Prerequisistes

You must be an administrator.

Instructions

To solve the problem:

  1. Select Cancel the upload.
  2. Open the file you are trying to upload in Microsoft Excel.
  3. Use Find & Replace to replace the commas with a blank, or a semicolon:
  4. Finalise your changes and save the file.
  5. Upload the data again, using the updated file.

Outcome

The file will now import successfully.
