Sisra Analytics: How do I troubleshoot the Sisra Analytics Excel Add-In? (Admin)

Overview

This article explains how to troubleshoot why the Add-In (SISRA tab) may not appear in Excel, and why there may be an error using the Add-In in 'Online' mode.

Following an update to Sisra Analytics in November 2024, the Excel Add-In is no longer required for formatting files for upload. Add-In functionality is now built in to Analytics itself. This means that all Student/Grade data files can be imported directly into Analytics once extracted from your MIS, and the columns can be mapped within Analytics during the upload process. We no longer support the Excel add-in beyond the steps outlined within this article.

Add-In not appearing (64-bit version of Microsoft Office)

If the add-in does not appear, this may be because you are using the 64-bit version of Microsoft Office. When running the 64-bit version of Excel, you must install a registry fix for the Excel Add-in to register in Excel.

To check your version:

  1. Select File > Account, then select About Excel to confirm the version of Excel you are using.
  2. A pop-up window is displayed explaining whether Excel is 32-bit or 64-bit. It will look similar to the one below:

  3. If you are using a 64-bit, close down Excel
  4. Download the 64bitOfficeRegFix.zip file at the bottom of this article.
  5. Extract the registry file, and then run it (you will need to have Administrator rights on the computer to do this. If you do not, speak to your local IT department).

Add-In not appearing (inactive Add-In)

If the 64-bit registry fix (above) does not apply or resolve the problem, the Add-In is inactive. Follow these steps to activate the add-in:

  1. Select File > Options.
  2. Select Add-Ins from the Excel Options window.
  3. Select COM Add-Ins from Manage and select Go:
  4. Check the SISRA Analytics Excel Add-In and select OK.mceclip4.png

The SISRA tab should now appear as an option on the top banner of Excel.

If there is a check next to SISRA Analytics Excel Add-In, uncheck it, select OK. Close Excel, and re-open it, then repeat the steps above. If you cannot see the add-in in the COM Add-Ins list, either have a 64-bit version of Office installed or the installation process was interrupted. Ask your local IT department to rerun the installation for you.

To rerun the installation, navigate to your local program files, for example,  C:\Program Files (x86)\SISRA Analytics Excel Add In, and rerun the file called SISRA Analytics Excel Add-In with the type VSTO Deployment. After reinstalling it, reopen the COM Add-In list in Excel to check if it appears.

If you still have problems after working through the above, try installing the add-in on a home computer not connected to your local network.

Error using Online mode

Following the update to the file uploading process in Analytics where the Add-In is no longer required, it is no longer possible to use the Add-In in 'Online' mode. However, you can still use the Add-In in 'Offline' mode, by clicking SISRA tab > Manage Profiles > Offline tab.

Once this is activated, you would need to then click 'Add Filter' and add each of your custom filters from your school's student data profile (Seen in CONFIG > Student Data within Analytics).

In our example above, we have added custom filters of Reg Group, Disadvantaged and Attendance, but these filters would vary for each school.

You only need to add your custom filters once, and once you click Close, you can use the Add-In as normal going forward.

File Health Check Issues

If you are seeing an issue flagged in the 'File Health Check' whilst uploading Student or Grade data to Analytics, please see the relevant article in the section linked below for information on how to solve this:
