Primarysite: Setting up your Social Media Integration

Welcome to our step by step guide for setting up your social media integration within your PrimarySite Website.

In this guide we will cover:

  • Connecting to your Facebook page
  • Disconnecting your accounts
  • Posting your latest news items to accounts

This document will help you achieve all these things in an easy step by step process. If you have any questions, please get in touch.

Getting started

To get started, please log in to your school website, go to the ‘Communication’ tab and click ‘Social Media.’

Please remember that the ‘Communication’ tab can only be accessed by a person who has the role of ‘Super user’ assigned to their log-in for their Primarysite website.

Connecting to your Facebook page

Firstly, you will need to click the ‘connect to Facebook’ button.

A new window will then appear asking you to log in to your Facebook account. You must log in to the Facebook account that has your school Facebook page associated.

Once you have clicked log in, a new window will appear which will list any pages you have associated to that Facebook account.

Select the page that you are wanting to add to the integration and select the blue ‘connect’ button.  If successful, you will see a green bar appear advising that the page is now authorised.

You will be able to see if and which Facebook account and Facebook page is connected in the social media area of your website. If an account is connected the ‘connect accounts’ button will be greyed out with the option to disconnect.

Disconnecting Accounts

Should you wish to disconnect your Facebook account, this will need to be done through the same PC/device, as well as the same browser that you originally connected the accounts through.

If you are not able to do this, you will need to call our customer support team on

01636 616 630.

You will need to select the grey ‘Disconnect Facebook’ button dependent on the account you are disconnecting. This will then revoke the access for the account/s. You will see that once disconnected the button in question will again show as blue and you will be advised that you have successfully disconnected.

Posting your latest news items to your accounts

Your latest news items only can be posted out to your social media accounts providing you have connected these up in the social media area.  To send your latest news item to your social media accounts, you will need to select the relevant tick boxes in the right-hand bottom corner of the news item itself when you are creating this.

As you press the publish button, your latest news item will appear on your school website as well as on your social media account/s selected. Please note when viewing the post on social media, this will display the title of the news item and the link to the item itself within the school website. Selecting this will redirect you to the post on the school website.

Due to recent modifications in Twitter's terms and conditions, including a new API pricing structure and stringent data retrieval restrictions, we can no longer support Twitter integration through your website.
