Pupil Asset: How to calculate GLD for Reception pupils

  • Updated

Children are defined as having reached a Good Level of Development (GLD) at the end of the EYFS if they have achieved the expected level for the ELGs in the prime areas of learning and the specific areas of mathematics and literacy (see the DfE Early Years Foundation Stage profile 2024 handbook for more information).

For details on how to enter aspect specific EYFS Judgements, please refer to Entering Statutory EYFS data via the Results menu (Pupil Asset schools) guide.

Once results for all 17 EYFS aspects have been entered into the EYFS Judgement column in Reception, the system can be prompted to populate the GLD column.

To do this, head to Results with Reception and any EYFS subject selected (as the GLD column is not subject specific).

Click Edit Results and then click the 'AutoCalc' button under the GLD column:

This will add a tick or a cross indicating whether the pupil met GLD (please note that a result for all 17 aspects needs to be present in the EYFS Judgement column for the calculation to be completed and will fail if at least one result is missing).
