Overview

This article explains how to set up payments on your website. You can set up more than one payment method, so visitors can choose how they pay. Choose from:

  1. PayPal
  2. Worldpay
  3. Authipay
  1. Stripe
  2. JustGiving
  3. Offline payment

Prerequisites

  • You must be an Account Owner or an Account Admin.
  • You must have an account with each payment provider you want to use and have your account details available.

Open the payment settings

Follow these steps to open the payment settings for your website:

  1. Select Website.
  2. Select Settings.

  3. Select Website Settings:

  4. From Website Settings, scroll down and select the Payments tab: 

The Payment Settings tab opens. It includes a section for each payment method. Scroll down to move between them:

Complete the settings for one or more of the payment methods using the instructions below. When you've configured each of the settings, follow the steps in Save your payment settings.

Set up PayPal

Follow these steps to set up PayPal in the PayPal Settings section:

  1. In the PayPal Method list, select Via form and IPN or Via buttons.
  2. In the PayPal Account Name field, enter the name of your PayPal account.
  3. In the Payment Type list, select Shopping Cart or Donation.
  4. In the Sandbox Mode (enable for testing, disabled for live payments) list, select Enabled to test payments, or Disabled to take live payments.
  5. In the Currency list, select GBP, EUR, or USD.

Set up Worldpay

Follow these steps to set up Worldpay in the Worldpay Settings section:

  1. In Installation ID, enter your Worldpay Installation ID.
  2. If you have one, enter your Worldpay Merchant Code in Merchant Code (optional).
  3. In the Sandbox Mode (enable for testing, disabled for live payments) list, select Enabled to test payments, or Disabled to take live payments.

Set up Authipay

Follow these steps to set up Authipay in the Authipay Settings section:

  1. In Store Name, enter your store name.
  2. In Shared Secret, enter your shared secret.
  3. In the Currency list, select GBP, EUR, or USD.
  4. In the Sandbox Mode (enable for testing, disabled for live payments) list, select Enabled to test payments, or Disabled to take live payments.

Set up Stripe

Follow these steps to set up Stripe in the Stripe Settings section:

  1. In Public API Key, enter your Stripe Public Key.
  2. In Private API Key, enter your Stripe Private Key.
  3. In Webhook Signing Secret, enter your Webhook Signing Secret.
  4. In the Currency list, select GBP, EUR, or USD.

Set up JustGiving

Follow these steps to set up JustGiving in the JustGiving Settings section:

  1. In Charity ID, enter your JustGiving Charity ID.

Set up offline payment

Use offline payment if you would rather not take payments online. Visitors fill in the form, and you process the payment outside your website.

Follow these steps to set up one or more offline payment methods in the Offline Payment Settings section:

  1. In Bank Transfer Information, enter the details visitors need when paying by bank transfer.
  2. In Cheque Information, enter the details visitors need when paying by cheque.
  3. In Purchase Order Information, enter the details visitors need when paying using a purchase order.

Save your payment settings

Follow these steps to apply your changes:

  1. Check that you have completed the settings for each payment method you want to use.
  2. Select Save.
  3. Close the Website Settings tab.

If you enable Sandbox Mode for a payment method, your website doesn't take real payments for that method. After you finish testing, select Disabled in the Sandbox Mode (enable for testing, disabled for live payments) list, then select Save. This will allow you to take live payments from customers visiting your site.

Tips and best practices

  1. Test each payment method with Sandbox Mode enabled (where available) before you take live payments.
  2. Keep your keys and secrets private. Only share them with people who manage payments for your school or Trust.
  3. Where currencies are requested, make sure that you select the correct currency, because visitors see prices in that currency.
