Overview

This article explains what happens in Portal during the academic year rollover and what you need to know when sending parent invitations for the new academic year.

The guidance provided in this article is specifically for those schools who use a third-party MIS and sync to us using Wonde. If you use Juniper Education's MIS (you are not using Wonde to connect your pupil and staff data to Juniper Education), complete the end of year rollup process using the End of Year wizard (for further information, see MIS: End of Year Rollup).

How rollover works

If you use a third-party MIS, carry out your annual rollover in your MIS as normal. We will run a Wonde sync on 3rd August 2026 to update your academic year, regardless of when you complete your rollover. If you haven't rolled over by 3rd August 2026, don't worry - your new groups will come through in the next Wonde sync after you do roll over.

Key dates

Date What happens
16th July 2026 Syncing of pupil data from Wonde will be paused. All other data will continue to sync from Wonde as normal. Portal will still show your pupils on role for 2025 / 2026 along with their parents / contacts. Any changes made to your pupil data (including groups) in your MIS will not be reflected until 3rd August 2026.
3rd August 2026 All Wonde-synced schools will automatically move into the new academic year (2026 / 2027) in Juniper Education's products. Wonde syncing of data will resume, updating pupils, parents / contracts / groups and all related data for the new year. Portal will default to showing 2026 / 2027 groups, and you'll be able to send invites in the normal way.

Parent invitations

Portal manages pupil and contact invitations:

  1. Until 3rd August you will see your 2025 / 2026 pupils.
  2. From the 3rd August when your MIS has been rolled up, you will see your 2026 / 2027 pupils and you can send parent invites using the new-year pupil data ahead of the new term.
  3. Parents and contacts of pupils who are flagged as leavers are removed from the User Invitations tab, which only show pupils on roll and their contacts. Additionally, access is revoked for those pupils / parents for any Juniper Education systems managed through Portal.

Common questions

  • Yes, your school needs to carry out the annual rollover process in your MIS. If you're unsure of how to rollover your MIS, contact your MIS provider. From the 3rd August 2026, your rolled up groups will show in Comms Hub.
  • Juniper Education detects MIS changes through a nightly sync, so there may be up to 24 hours before your new pupils and associated parent / contact details appear. If you have rolled up before the 3rd August 2026, the changes you have made will not be visible until 3rd August 2026. After the 3rd August 2026, if it's been more than 24 hours, contact us.
  • It doesn't matter if you have not rolled over by 3rd August 2026. When you do rollover, Wonde sync will rewrite your pupil and associated parent / contact details overnight. We recommend completing your MIS rollover as early as possible so that your data is accurate before the new term begins.
