MIS: How do I quickly edit / update a contact's details from a pupil record?

Overview

This article explains how to quickly make changes to a contact's details from a pupil record. When you create a contact within a pupil record, you enter basic contact details. After the contact has been created, you can further populate these details based on your needs.

Instructions

Follow these steps to edit / update a contact's details through a pupil record:

  1. Select Pupils.
  2. Select All Pupils.
  3. Find the pupil whose contact details you want to edit (use the search bar or filters to speed up this process as appropriate):
  4. Select the pupil's name to open their record:
  5. From the pupil's record, select the Contacts tab:

  6. Select the ellipsis next to the contact whose details you want to change:
  7. Select Edit from the menu:

    If you would prefer to view the whole contact record and edit through that view, select Edit Full Contact (see MIS: How do I edit / update a contact's details? for further information)

  8. Edit the contact's details, making any changes as needed, including the relationship (using the drop-down list), parental responsibility, emergency contact details or whether the person has a court order recorded against them:

  9. Select Save

Outcome

The changes are made to the contact, and you are returned to the Contacts page:

Tips and best practices

  1. To change the order of importance of contacts, for example to select a new Primary Contact (the contact at the top of the list), select Reorder, use the arrows to move each contact to the desired postion, then select Save.
